KV waives fee for ‘only girl’ child

New Delhi: As part of the government’s efforts to educate girls, the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has waived the fee for girl students of classes from VI to XII who are the only child of their parents. The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, which controls the central schools, has operationalised the scheme with effect from January 1, 2006, human resource development (HRD) ministry officials said.
The decision would benefit about 10,300 girls studying in 919 central schools in the country, HRD ministry officials said. Earlier it was decided that all schools seeking affiliation to CBSE would have to give total fee waiver to every girl child who are the only child of her parents. PTI
